Japanese Witness of Unit 731 Atrocities Yoshio Shinozuka Passed Away
Yoshio Shinozuka passed away on April 20, 2014 at the age of 90. He was a Japanese Imperial Army soldier who served as an army physician with the infamous biological warfare Unit 731 during WWII. In 1984, he came forward to testify the atrocities committed by the Imperial Army, telling his true stories to Japanese citizens and the world. In 1998, he was invited to testify at a Canadian workshop “A Glimpse of Reconciliation – Confession of a Unit 731 Soldier & Photo Exhibition on Japan’s Germ Warfare in WW II“ held in Vancouver, but was denied entering Canada due to his former war criminal status. His testimony was then delivered via a pre-recorded video.
