“In August 1942, in Sungai Lui, in the hinterlands of the state of Negeri Sembilan, 368 civilians of Chibese descent were indiscriminately massacred by the Japanese military. Immediately after the war, graves were established there, but they were soon forgotten, and jungle grew back up in the surrounding area. In 1984, those mass graves were finally rediscovered by people who happened to venture into the jungle.” (Speech by Nobuyoshi Takashima, Professor Emeritus of the University of Ryukyus at teh Unitarian Church of Vancouver on October 17, 2015)
